Use old hospital for Duncan Manor needs

Duncan Hospital will soon be moving to Bell McKinnon. Would the land it occupies now not be a suitable location for the new Duncan Manor? The parking area alone would probably suffice for the space required. The living units then would not have to be stacked six storeys high and there would be ample outdoor space for the residents.

It is located a short distance from the downtown area and of course has all utilities in place. Would that not be a better solution than having to amputate part of Centennial Park? The park is a well used essential facility for maintaining our community’s health! In addition, the number of people using it seems to increase annually. As time goes on, and our population increases, it will be even more essential.

Each time a local care facility needs more space are they just going to chop a piece off of a local park to provide it? Once park land is gone, it is gone forever!
