U.S. gun culture infecting Canada

U.S. gun culture infecting Canada

This bogus argument against banning automatic and semi-automatic weapons highlights that existing beside the U.S. comes with both bad and good benefits. It disgusts me that the American addiction for gun ownership, which includes weapons that should only be in the hands of the military as they serve no other purpose then to kill people, has become a rallying point here.

No one is talking about taking away guns for hunting, as hunters will still be able to blow holes in defenseless animals, but that is the big lie that the right-wing and rednecks among us have latched on to.

I look at New Zealand which, after that horrific mass shooting at a mosque, was able to bring in legislation within a week that banned assault weapons there. Not us, heavens no, the Constitution of the U.S. says we can have an armed militia. Yeah but, that is not our Constitution all you gun lovers.

Our prime minister is wrongly being vilified for wanting to ban such weapons here and is greeted with the same rubbish arguments against gun control as cripples the efforts in the U.S. from stopping the carnage there.

I would favour that our government gets draconian on stopping all illegal imports of guns from that country that has lost its mind. Good, law abiding citizens here do not need to own assault weapons and that they do own them does not make our country safer. If gun ownership increases safety, then the U.S. would be the safest nation on earth, but the exact opposite is true. Countries that have the strongest anti-gun laws are the ones with little gun violence. See how that works?

I would support the government for enacting tougher laws on the illegal import of guns from the States. I would tell the gang lawyers and civil rights people to take a hike, as they more then anyone has protected the gun subculture here in Canada using the false idea that they are just protecting our freedoms. We don’t need another mass killing like what just happened in Nova Scotia to bring that point home, do we?

Mr. Prime Minister, I didn’t vote for you last time, but I would urge you to follow the lead of New Zealand and push back against the mentality of some Canadians that mirrors the indoctrination of the NRA.
