Turn old RCMP detachment into homeless shelter
In my opinion, I think the old RCMP station’s property should become a homeless shelter.
They could do a revamp of the inside by putting up individual barriers of cement block for rooms and create a large bathroom and shower area.
I think it is more important to house the needy in our area at this time than to demo it for the wetlands society. I think the costs would be less for the taxpayers and could have a good response if volunteers were called upon to help our community. I am sure there are a number of retired carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, and electricians that would give their time to this project.
The city could donate the costs of permits and inspectors to a cause that is very evident in need!
