Time to thank veterans by abiding by COVID-19 rules

This year it’s been 75 years since WWll ended, and Europe was liberated in May and South East Asia in August of that year.

I would like to thank those brave women and men who gave their lives, or put on hold their future to come and liberate us. I’m thankful for their willingness to come to the aid of people they don’t know, and traveled to areas and situations they had no control over. Thank you for fighting to get back our freedom, dignity and our country. How can we ever repay you? No amount of tulips or monuments can ever express how much we appreciate your sacrifices.

So would it be too much if we keep those women and men in mind, while we deal with the current pandemic? Would it help to honour them, if we abide by the government issued rules for social distancing and the use of face masks? It’s a start; lest we forget those who fought to regain our freedom. The freedom that gives us now the opportunity to make wise decisions regarding safeguarding the health of the elderly and vulnerable people.

Let’s not forget that most of the elderly gave up at least five years of their lives to save us; the sacrifice we currently have to make is nothing compared to those they made!
