The WE Charity scandal is outrageous
It’s remarkable to see Canadians show such an underwhelming response to the current WE scandal. The fundamental facts of this case are indisputable. Members of the Trudeau and Morneau family received significant monetary compensation from an organization to which they had significant ties. It amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Trudeaus and thousands to the Morneau family. And yet here we are subjected to claims by some that Justin Trudeau was a “victim of his status” (whatever that might mean) and that somehow he isn’t personally culpable.
Nonsense. To Andrew Scheer’s apt description of this entire affair as being “disgusting” and “criminal” Trudeau can only answer that he did it out of concern for youth and their potential exposure to COVID-19. Besides being enormously laughable, this response only reinforces his previous excuses. In SNC-Lavalin he was only trying to “save jobs.” In the Aga Khan affair he was only meeting a “family friend.” The culturally insulting and insensitive trip he made to India was only a “wonderful trip.”
It’s time to remind Canadians that this is the third investigatory venture into his unethical conduct and the sixth unethical incident he has been tied to. How many more must we endure until we ask him to leave, and more to the point, until he responds?
Even more mystifying, why are Canadians so spellbound by this man and his family? Is it his boyish charm, tousled hair, the right suit and socks? It certainly can’t be his coherence and eloquent statements. What is there about the Trudeaus that makes so many people ignore their unethical, dictatorial and now borderline activities and vote them in.
Canadians need to wake up to all of this and think about what will be necessary in order for us to right the ship of state and restore our nation. If we don’t do it soon, then whatever connection we had to the great nation we once were will disappear. If for no other reason than that, we need to rethink our relationship with that consummate actor and scammer, Justin Trudeau.
