Stronger climate change legislation needed
I have been an advocate for better laws to slow the warming of this planet since 1999, a time when a decrease of one per cent per year in carbon emissions was required. Now 20 years later, and with little real action, a decrease of at least five per cent is required to stop the most disastrous impacts of climate change. To achieve this goal, all hands are needed on deck.
For the federal government, this means that their proposed net zero accountability act must be stronger; for example, not waiting until 2030 for its full implementation. I ask all citizens to contact their MPs to express the need for stronger legislation.
