Seniors vital to communities, not a drain
Wednesday’s editorial cartoon about seniors sucking up social services and paying no tax is in very poor taste.
Most seniors pay lots of tax — sales taxes, property taxes and income taxes — and make great contributions to the communities they live in. The serve on boards for arts and social welfare organizations, they mentor young people, they are active in politics, they patronize local businesses and in many other ways breath life in our communities. They also run small businesses that are also taxed.
We think your cartoonist owes seniors a big apology.
