Re: “Still work to do”, (Citizen, Dec. 11)

My experiences have indicated to me that many of the “underlying tensions in our society” are created by the teachings of our religions. The teachings of the Christian religions blatantly segregate the roles of males and females, and are primarily directed to the males. For example: “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you,” (Psalm 82:6, Holy Bible, Revised Standard Version). Do you think that we could persuade the Christians to substitute the word, “children”, for the word, “sons”?

Perhaps the “gunman on an anti-feminist rampage” wanted to eliminate the sinners who were trying to become engineers, obviously male roles.
