Real intent of moratorium/new OCP to stop development in Quamichan

Let’s just have a public hearing on this area of land and vote on it.

Real intent of moratorium/new OCP to stop development in Quamichan

The OCP process is long, annoying and very expensive. It should be avoided if at all possible. The last one (2011) was all consuming but apparently not very good (if you listen to the folks now).

The cost will be in excess of $300,000.

Having attended the founding public meeting of the Quamichan Lake Residents Association, reading about the re-zoning efforts near Maple Bay School and reading the recent Notice of Motion to forbid development for two to three years as we do the OCP, is it not correct to say the OCP and this motion are very simply aimed at stopping development between The Garth and The Quamichan Inn property? The motion includes some other geographical areas and some “we are doing it to be green” verbiage, but are council not aiming there? So rather then spend that money (and staff time) on an OCP, let’s just have a public hearing on this area of land and vote on it. Let the other areas included in the motion go free, forget the OCP and use the money ($300,000+) saved to plant trees to ingest carbon and subsidize EV charging stations for Tesla owners.
