Port Renfrew prepares for seasonal mischief

Editor: Last year's May long weekend saw a strong police presence in Port Renfrew, which sent a solid message to all those who think we are lawless and that anything goes.

This year will be no different. Staff Sgt. Wright of the Sooke detachment has assured me there will be the same police coverage this year as well.

This includes, road blocks, sobriety checks and vehicle impoundment.

Be very clear, Port Renfrew welcomes all visitors to come and enjoy our community, our beaches, our lakes and our hospitality, but will no longer  tolerate the abuse we have had to endure over the years.

This is a weekend for families and all to enjoy.

If your plan is to come here to get wasted and cause trouble, keep on driving, because you are not welcome.

We are looking very forward to another busy, fun and safe long weekend.
