Opioid users should be shipped to Victoria

The proposed safe injection site between the schools should be firmly resisted and has no place in a small town like Duncan.

Besides being unsafe and dangerous for our children, I am an adult who no longer feels safe driving in a locked car through this area!

I can imagine the terror for the children who are loners and have to walk on those streets. Sure, safety sometimes in numbers, but unfortunately not all children are group animals; or maybe some of their “group” are sick or involved in other activities that day. Why would Duncan council take a chance to jeopardize even one child?

I reasonably believe that during the COVID crisis, the policy is that any person with COVID is shipped to Victoria where they have facilities to handle sick people. The opioid crisis should be handled the same way.

The Cowichan Valley does not have the resources or manpower to handle this sweeping pandemic of increased drug use and the increased lawlessness that it has produced.
