Long way from moving away from fossil fuels

Regina Montag would like to know, “where’s the Just Transition Act” that Trudeau promised in 2019, now that Biden has cancelled the Keystone Pipeline. The claim is that “workers have access to training and support in a new clean economy”.

Training in “clean economy”? Well, may I ask, exactly what would that be? Solar, wind, geothermal? None are efficient or practical for various reasons. Hydro? The environmentalists are already fighting this clean energy by opposing Site C.

Nuclear energy? Hell, I can just hear the screaming already.

Promises made by politicians are cheap words in order to get elected. The Just Transition Act is one good example. I suggest that Joe Biden’s immediate actions will come back to haunt him simply because, as it now stands, like it or not the U.S. needs oil more than it needs environmentalists.

Don’t get me wrong. I think the world should move away from fossil fuel energy, but we are a long, long way from doing so, like it or not.
