Too bad Hamlets opposes MAID
It’s good to see more accommodation being available for seniors in the area. The Hamlets on York Road provides both assisted living and complex care to its residents through a joint agreement with Island Health.
It’s sorry that they ignore the wishes of many Canadians (Ipsos – 86 per cent) and actively discourage medical assistance in dying (MAID) and do not allow MAID on their premises. Is this a business decision to reduce tenant turnover, or as they claim, a decision guided by the tenets of their Christian faith?
Would Jesus have walked past the homeless folk huddled on the road outside the Hamlets gate?
