Why is North Cowichan landlord to RCMP?

Now that our civic authorities are changing the guard, this would be a good time to ask some questions.

My first one concern is: as a residential taxpayer from North Cowichan I am concerned about why we are in the landlord business? Namely the new police station. The Municipality of the District of North Cowichan was very motivated to be the owner and landlord. This was achieved on the backs of the North Cowichan tax payers. This facility, which was needed, services the entire valley from Crofton to Lake Cowichan, from Mill Bay to Ladysmith.

My question is this: all the monthly rental income collected by the municipality, along with the maintenance fees would be staggering, folks! So where does all the money go?

I’d be all for it if this endeavor went to keep my taxes low and support community programs.

As of this date, there has been no mention of that?

Complete transparency is in order.

Let’s open up the books during this election.
