Why is Duncan allowing this kind of development?
Many visitors choose to visit Duncan because of its quaint old downtown. Its green spaces, its totem poles, the surrounding mountains and its magnificent old trees.
Why are we choosing to build ugly five-six storey apartments which obscure the mountains? Why are we cutting down centuries-old trees? Why are we adding more pavement to cover the tiny green spaces and to increase the intensity of the summer heat? We need nature in order to survive.
Duncan is rapidly becoming a ghetto. This is not happening in the surrounding communities of Chemainus, Crofton or Ladysmith.
Why are we, the residents, allowing this to happen here?
