Lack of cell tower has dangerous ramifications

Dear Alison Nicholson:

I understand you are opposed to a proposal from Telus to build a cell tower here in Sahtlam, a community which is extremely underserviced by cell signal. While 70 per cent said they were in favour of the tower, you claim “a significant segment of the population” is concerned about cell towers for reasons including sightlines and property values.

You also claim it is “prudent to wait until the district has a clearer direction from the broader community and a cell tower policy is in place” before considering approving this tower.

I wonder if you will be campaigning here in Sahtlam in the fall? If so, please be very careful when you come knocking on my door. I have a small farm and the chicken and pig manure on the property can be very slippery. Should you slip and fall and require a 911 call, you will have to wait until the district has a clearer direction from the broader community and a cell tower policy is in place so the tower can be built before I can actually get through to 911 from my home.
