Going up?
Little land for a growing population. Going up is the remaining solution. It is not a preference by many but the only way to go.
In Duncan as in many towns and cities the downtown area, built for high density, is not being developed to that criteria. A 21-storey unit in downtown Duncan, [would provide] about 240 units, a mix of 500 sq ft single bedroom units and double bedroom in its average 12 units per floor. This is about 10 per cent of city residents.
Equivalent to 40 six-storey units being currently built residentially and using four to five lots of land, not 40. Vitality of downtown would increase, not as many parking spaces required.
Time to grow up!
