Fine polluters, then jail them

I agree with some of what A. Richards opines in your welcome Dec. 21, 2022 online post.

However, extremely stiff, crippling fines must merely be the start for heinous polluters who sadly hold money above all else.

Mandatory jail terms for corporate executives must be court ordered globally to awaken such greedy pod-people about our many ecological crises arguably created by their firms.

We need ultra-stiff pollution penalties written into law — then followed by judges, covered by the press, and demanded by caring citizens.

Flimsy fines are simply mocked by most corporate suits and their shareholding supporters.

Tepid fines may also be written off by such eco-poisoners as a simple business expense.

Also realize many corporations reportedly pay few or no taxes, further burdening hard-working taxpayers, as A. Richards, indicates.

Just look at BP Oil. That eco-criminal paid relative chump-change in fines, totalling several hundred million dollars, for critically damaging the entire Gulf of Mexico’s ecosystem during its recklessly deadly oil release on April 20, 2010.

Yes, A. Richards, we certainly must fine guilty polluters — then jail them.

Yours in eco-justice,
