Abandoning pets despicable

How can people be so despicable as to abandon their COVID-19 pets, and what a sickening lesson to teach children — that as soon as you are tired of caring for any pet, big or small, you throw it away (sometimes literally) or expect others to care for it.

What happened to the unconditional love for your pet? Your pet gave that to you and this is what it gets in return? A pet requires a lifelong commitment and if you are not prepared to show that much love and kindness to an animal, what is the point of acquiring it in the first place?

Mahatma Ghandi said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

I’m heartbroken to see we have a long way to go.
