Growing support for Sonia Furstenau

The sign-wave at Trunk and the TCH this afternoon might have set a record for ‘beep-beeps’. Greetings came from dozens and dozens of passenger and big work vehicles — including air-horns from logging, tankers, and two huge semis, among many, many others. As more than one said after Sonia spoke in the leaders’ debate the other night, “She makes us proud.”

A woman in a large van made a late right on a red, onto Trunk, and she stopped beside where I was posted. She rolled down a window and said, “Why should I vote Green and not the NDP?”

With the oncoming lane behind her now on a green light, I said, “It’s not a great time to talk about it,” and looking back to the traffic now coming up behind her with horns sounding, I added, “Read the platform. It’s on the party website and Facebook page.”

She smiled, gestured and nodded her appreciation as she pulled away. If I’d had another moment, I would have added, “And listen to Sonia. She’s brilliant, and she has a good heart. If that doesn’t convince you, you’re hopeless.”

I think that woman would have appreciated that, too. I kept sending her that message.

Positive response from many drivers during recent sign-waves at several locations in the Valley is a fair indication of the appreciation growing in our community for Sonia Furstenau’s positive leadership.
