Greta is right

I sincerely wish that Mr. Cantelon was correct; that Greta’s voice was a lone one proclaiming the imminent threat of global heating.
But he’s wrong, dead wrong.
Every credible scientist on the planet is urgently warning that we have but a sliver of time — 10 years at most — in which to avoid climate catastrophe and to preserve some semblance of the benign climate which nurtured our civilization.
Humanity, they caution, must reduce the consumption — and concomitantly, the production — of fossil fuels by five per cent annually for the next decade in order to have any realistic chance of limiting global heating to 1.5 C.
Urgent and unprecedented action is required, yet our politicians consistently fail us; offering promises and props to a twilight industry which are simply incompatible with the physics of a heating globe.
Tinkering with a timid carbon tax is too little, too late, and investing in new pipelines and LNG is simply madness.
“How dare you!’” remains a timely rebuke to those who refuse to acknowledge a looming peril to our children and to the planet which sustains us.
Greta’s right; if you’re not panicking, you’re not paying attention.
