Election lies: a poem

I’d like to say a word about things that I see

It’s so damned insane, is it you or is it me

And I’d like there to be answers and we all hear what’s said

By leaders high above with hearts cold and eyes dead

With too many lies and crap we’ve been fed

We’re guided by ideals so ancient and old

All twisted by men, we’ve all been bought and sold

We’ve got to find new visions for our world of today

With no special treatment, the old boys can’t play

The election game comes and they scream for your votes

All pointing and blaming, at each other’s throats

And all our concerns are put on the shelf

While they chase their own dreams of power and wealth

Don’t believe the lies they’re just in it for themselves

And with every ballot you cast you say

I’m trained and controlled and conditioned to play

And it doesn’t matter who gets win, place or show

A rotten foundation will let nothing good grow

It’s time to be responsible, it’s time to say “NO”
