Don’t keep voting for losers

Here we go again! Voters in the Cowichan-Malahat-Langford riding will be selecting a million dollar lottery winner in the upcoming election. That’s how much in pay and expenses we will give the lucky MP in this riding during their term in office. You decide if they are worth it.

It makes sense for all voters to face reality that either the Liberals or the Conservatives are going to form the next federal government of Canada. And I’ll bet you that happens just as it has for most of our Canadian history.

We now have five fringe parties that will never form government ranging from the NDP to the Greens and Bloc Quebecois. Most don’t even have official party status and likely never will. These parties always promise to spend a lot more of our money than those that can actually form the government. They also promote radical or silly policies that they know will never get implemented because they will never form government. Most of them have shrill, dire predictions about some favourite cause.

They use these nonsense tactics to attract and suck in voters that they will do something for you if elected — in reality that never happens and all they accomplish is to get a very highly paid job for themselves for years at our expense. By voting for a candidate in a fringe party all you do is give them more of your tax money to run their party.

It’s been decades since our riding had an MP who did anything much for us other than us rewarding them with great pay, nice travel and awesome pensions. This riding has rarely voted for an MP in the government and it shows. The traffic mess on our national highway through the riding remain largely unresolved. Very few federally funded community projects that normally occur in a government riding ever happen here. And that will never change if you continue to vote for and elect losers.

Face reality folks and especially new young voters — don’t waste your vote on parties and candidates that will never form government or have any accountability for their promises and platforms. Pick a winner for our riding this time.
