Don’t blame me
I must say I am surprised at the responses from various people since I suggested a “reality” check for the protesting school children who are demanding governments to “change” the “climate”. This latest letter from Graham Fielding is a dandy. (“We shouldn’t have to clean up the mess you made”)
In a bit of a parable, he relates as a youngster, his parents insisted he clean up after himself and therefore I am to blame for the “mess” I have left behind as a result of my lifestyle.
Now, I’m not sure whether he is speaking of “climate change”, or general local pollution, however, I would like to address BOTH his accusations.
First off, don’t blame me, or anyone else for that matter, but the climate changes from time to time, sometimes it is normal changes and sometimes severe. It’s been going on this way for eons. The weather is created by atmospheric high and low pressure areas that sweep across the globe. Therefore, blame the systems, not me!
Speaking of local “climate change” this year, I’d like to take the “blame” for the beautiful summer, but unfortunately I cannot. The same can be said province wise, with the very low fire season, in spite of the dire warning by climate scientists that we were going to burn to a crisp.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention, the other day Victoria set a record for the “coldest” day of the year in spite of, you know, the “hot” “greenhouse effect”.
Now, if the “mess” he is referring to is local pollution. I did not vote for the provincial political party of the day that allowed tons, upon tons of toxic, contaminated material to be dumped in a hole above the drinking water supply of the good folks at Shawnigan Lake. If you voted for that party Mr. Fielding then it’s your fault, not mine!
