Determined Women Together purchase AED for Sylvan
This time I would like to applaud the Women Together of Sylvan United Church.
In the past, these ladies worked hard at organizing teas, shows and bazaars for various reasons, but nothing compared to their concerns for the well-being of our aging congregation.
The majority of our elderly are 70-plus years old and many are under supervision for heart issues. Not that we are complaining too loudly! But a recent occurrence hit home! Some of us had to to go for angiograms, others were in the hospital for observation and treatment. We are an aging congregation!
With that realization came the urge to do something pro-active and soon we were involved in finding out about AEDs. We found out that in the U.S. non profit organizations can apply for grants and aids to purchase an AED, but couldn’t find anything that easily available in B.C.
The ladies were determined to have one stat, and decided that a facelift of the washrooms was not that urgent. Instead they agreed to purchase an AED for our church and have some very capable people go through the training.
Well, it’s here now and we all feel a lot more at ease.
Thank you ladies of the Women Together! It’s an honor to be part of such a dedicated group of women.
