September has been a month full of new experiences.

Having just begun my role as executive director of the DDBIA immediately after moving to Downtown Duncan, I feel like I’ve been thrown right into the thick of things, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcomed.

Duncan is on the precipice of a municipal election, which, for our local business community, will undoubtedly have a significant impact over the next four years. It is vital that we pay attention, get informed and vote to ensure the future of our beautifully unique town.

This week the DDBIA is pleased to be hosting a forum with all of the candidates in this year’s election for all of our member businesses. Perplexingly, it is the only event being organized to ask candidates about their platforms and respond to prepared and open floor questions. In response to inquiries from the general public, we will be live streaming the event on Facebook from our Downtown Duncan page. Tune in Thursday morning to see and hear your future mayor and city council.

In other news, Chef Ian Blom has finished his tenure at the Old Firehouse Wine Bar and is set to open a brand new restaurant called The Ainslie in the previous location of Gourmet Gardens on Kenneth Street.
