Cowichan Community Centre is back!
On Thursday, we attended the last meeting of the Island Savings Centre Commission. We say last, because what we heard made our hearts soar. Following a staff recommendation, we are grateful that the commission unanimously passed the motion: “that the Island Savings Centre revert to its original name of Cowichan Community Centre.” This was music to our ears! Countless community members had worked hard over many years finally to make the Cowichan Community Centre a reality in 1978.
At last, following two name changes over the last few years, it is finally back to the name that most of the community refers to it anyway, the Cowichan Community Centre.
