Tony Robbins has always said that the secret to living is giving. Giving is also the secret to stratospheric success!
Have you ever read the short book, The Go Giver? If you have then you already know it’s a super quick read packed with value about the formula for growing your income (and fulfillment!) much faster.
Here are the five laws from The Go Giver for you to digest and start to implement with even more intention than before.
Law No. 1: The Law of Value
“Your true worth is how much you give in value opposed to how much you take in payment.”
This is not referring to your inner ‘worthiness’ worth — this is your worth in the marketplace. Bring your 'give energy' to your work and just watch how your interactions magnify in quality. Do nice things for others. Donate time to people or a cause that is important to you. This does not have to impact your top priorities either.
Next client or colleague interaction, ask yourself how you could genuinely give in a way that person would like to receive value, and see how astonished they become. Even if you feel some resistance or they give you a reason not to — do it anyway!
Law No. 2: The Law of Compensation
“Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”
It’s not about ‘average level of service to more people’. It’s about ‘client astonishment’ and delivering huge value to your clients. Exceed your customers’ expectations of what you deliver.
I’m sure you’ve heard the quote: "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” —Zig Ziglar
Law No. 3: The Law of Influence
“Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.”
Oh the irony. Putting others’ needs ahead of our own in order to get what we want. This means that irrespective of your own desire to make bigger money or achieve something important to you, the law of influence is about always putting your clients’ and/or employees’ needs before your own at work.
It’s harder than it sounds because it requires you to trust the process. Most in business don’t have the patience or belief to do that; be an exception here.
Law No. 4: The Law of Authenticity
“The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.”
If this doesn’t scream to you about how to do your social media differently from every one else, I don’t know what does! And social media is just one example of many. It means be yourself in everything you do.
Be quirky and fun if that’s you. Be strong and direct if that’s you. Share your values out loud. Be you! Everyone else is taken.
It’s the best tool you have to be unique in the marketplace. And more than ever, it’s necessary if you want to stand out and get noticed in this attention-based economy.
Law No. 5: The Law of Receptivity
“The key to effective giving is to be open to receiving.”
Reciprocation is a baked in, hardwired, natural result of giving. Give in alignment with yourself and others as a way of life and you’ll understand true gratitude. This particular law is not to be confused with the ‘Law of Attraction’. The Law of Attraction is about creating or attracting what you desire by aligning your mindset and energy. More the ‘output’ side — putting desires out into the ether.
This law, the Law of Receptivity, is about removing mental or emotional blocks that prevent you from accepting help, gifts, or opportunities on the incoming side. This might include overcoming feelings of unworthiness, guilt, or a belief that "giving is good, but receiving is selfish." Blocking your own abundance is unnecessary.
Implementing the Laws
Which of the above laws is most interesting to you? Which one feels like the one you would benefit the most by working at in a way that feels right for you? Choose one law and an associated action that feels right for you, then work on it daily by setting a reminder in your phone, daytimer, or calendar to work on it.
Welcome more abundance into your life this year!
