Challenging wills should not be allowed

Isn’t there anything sacred these day when it comes to people’s last wish in death and dying? Now that Attorney General Eby is about to “slam the lid” on the ICBC trough, the ambulance chasing lawyers are now zeroing in on our estates.

They are now offering the same “contingency fee” arrangements for challenging wills in the settling of estates. In other words, they will take a percentage of the estate if they are successful in challenging a will. (Beware folks, they charge over 25 per cent in ICBC claims.)

It used to be that one’s death wishes were respected. Not so, as “case law” changes that thanks to legal challenges. Now they are after a portion of what we want to give to those we love.

Incredible. Time for the attorney general to “slam the lid” on our coffins and keep them to hell out of something that is sacred.
