Bear attractant reminders needed
The CVRD bylaw which stipulates when garbage cans (including compost) may be placed at road side may be old news but it is good news as is the roadside checking by Conservation.
I can only hope North Cowichan could be as progressive. In our neighbourhood the garbage and recycle containers are permanently at the roadside or close to it at some properties with garbage strewn through the bush nearby. Others regularly put their containers at curb side the night before without a thought that their lazy careless actions could result in an innocent bear losing its life.
A little too much big city mindset and not enough rural awareness.
