A weekend at the arena

Thankfully, wild expletive-filled rants against referees are extremely rare at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena. Much more commonly, it’s a family-friendly atmosphere, and this is exactly what to expect during the 40th Annual Minor Hockey Jamboree, taking place this Saturday, January 22 (see the hockey section at the back of this issue).

Although the curling lounge end of things promotes a more adult atmosphere, as there’s a licensed curling lounge involved, curling also promotes a family-friendly atmosphere.

Making things more interesting, this weekend, in time for the Men’s Bonspiel, is the fact that the curling lounge will finally be complete (see Page 3). It’s too bad that the impressive new entranceway, and other parts of the renovations, won’t be complete. But, you didn’t actually expect a large-scale construction project to be completed, on schedule, did you?
