On March 2, 2010 our beautiful Wendy Lou passed away peacefully after three long years battling cervical cancer. Wendy Wilson (Dermott) was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. eventually settling in Maple Ridge but always considered Lake Cowichan her home away from home.

She first came to Lake Cowichan in the late 60s when her dad, Bob, was building the local arena. While staying at the Castaway Resort her family instantly became lifelong friends of the Olsons.

Throughout the years Wendy and her family have made many trips over to The Island of Fun. If ever there was a goodwill ambassador for Lake Cowichan it was Wendy. She loved our town and constantly told friends on the mainland what a wonderful place it is. Her favourite times here were spent relaxing dockside at the lake or on the deck with the gang. Wendy always tried her hardest to be here for Lake Days, Easter and for special birthdays. She was the most talented, fun-loving, young spirited and giving girl and she truly touched and inspired each of our lives.

Sadly at the young age of 46 she leaves behind her husband Stew, her kids: Tyler, Megan (Muffy) and Jesse; her parents Marie and Bob Dermott; brother Terry and extended family. Also missing her forever are the Olsons and special friends Jody and Richard Friday where there was always a room at The Inn and always will be.

A private family gathering will be held at the Friday’s in the spring. Wendy taught us all what true friendship and family love is all about. We are devastated to lose her so young but thankful for having her in our lives and forever in our hearts.
