After enjoying a life full of hard work and travels, dad passed away quietly at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan.

He will be forever missed by his wife Mary of 64 years, his children Gordon (Susanne) and Susan (Mike), grandchildren, Wendy, Doug, Cheryl, Gord (Jen), Corbin (Diane) and Braden, as well as great grandchildren: Dustin, James, Will, Brianna, Julliette, Megan, Kaitlyn, Trenton and Tyler. His nieces and nephews will also dearly miss him.

Predeceased by parents Einar, Sofia, brothers Edwin and Nels, sister-in-law Shirley and infant grandson Davin.

Born in Comox, ‘Swan’ moved with his family from Bowser to Camp 6 (Caycuse) in 1930. Since then he’s enjoyed an adventurous and fulfilling 81 years in the Cowichan Valley. His greatest joy was his work! From dawn to dusk he never tired of working with his trucks and machines. He was a long time member of the Kinsmen Club and K-40; he was also a life member of the Lake Cowichan Scandinavian Club.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dave Froese and the staff at Cairnsmore Place for their special care given to dad.

A Tea for friends and family will be held at the Lake Cowichan Centennial Hall on June 4th, 2011 between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Bring your fond memories to share. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Cowichan Community Services, Kaatza Historical Society or an organization of your choice. Dad was a firm believer in supporting his community.
