Mary Ann Majer (nee Watt)

Passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Cowichan, BC on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. Mary was born February 11, 1916, in Cadogan, Alberta and spent her early years in Edmonton. Along with her husband George, who predeceased her in 1998, came to the Lake Cowichan area in 1939 and started their family. Mary will be sadly missed by her three children, daughter Margaret (Jack) Mather of Brentwood Bay, BC; daughter Barbara Majer (Stewart Winter) of Vancouver, BC; son James (Jacy) Majer of Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren Barbara (Pieter) Blokzyl, Susan (Ed) Baptista, Michelle Winter, Shannon (Greg) Miller, Craig (Jenny) Aguiar-Winter, Mathew (Tammy) Jones, Lisa (Dmitri) Tsiropoulos, and Jaime Majer; great-grandchildren Christina, Whitney, Cody, Daelyn, Haley, Alexia, and Evan. Also survived by sisters Jean Watt, and Janet Watt. Mary served on the Boards of Lake Cowichan Credit Union and the Lake Cowichan CO-OP. The family of Mary would like to thank Dr. Froese, Sandy Baker and the staff at Nana’s Place, as well as the home nursing and support staff from whom she received many years of compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at Lake Cowichan United Church, 10 King George N Street, Lake Cowichan, BC on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
