After a courageous battle with cancer Luanne Palmer (Nelson) passed away with her husband Don at her side. Predeceased by her father Albert Nelson and brother Milo Nelson. Luanne is survived by her husband Don Palmer, daughter Debbie Palmer and grandson Mylo Palmer, son-in-law John Morgan, son Brad Palmer and wife Denise and grandchildren Alexa, Sam and Jack. Luanne is also survived by her mother Kathleen Nelson, and eleven siblings; Gailene Branting (Herb), Audrey Svetic (John), Bob Nelson (Carol), Jackie MacGregor (Dennis), Kirk Nelson (Chris), Wendy Holden (Jim), Judy Ketch (Rennis), Lana Ketch (Roger), Brenda Tomporowski (Wally), Denise Ramsey (Glenn) and Kim Gunn (David); sister-in-law Marlene Scyrup (Paul) and many nieces and nephews. Luanne will be greatly missed by all her family.

Luanne worked at the Mesachie Lake Forestry Station and gained fame as a tree grafter and was responsible for saving the famous Golden Spruce. Her passion was her family and her greenhouse and gardens.

A memorial service will be planned for this summer; Luanne’s favourite time of year. Her family would like to thank: Dr. Froese and all the girls in the Lake Cowichan Doctor’s office for being so kind in her difficult times; Janet and staff in the Lake Cowichan drugstore; the nurses on the third floor of the Duncan Hospital; Dr. Willy in the Cancer Clinic; the nurses in the Chemo Department and all our friends who stood by our side.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Clinic.
