It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, on June 3rd, 2022, at Oyster Harbour in Ladysmith, BC.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Laila) and Stephen, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Cliffe, her parents, Ken Willis and Daisy Willis (Manktelow), as well as her three siblings, Ken Willis (Helen), Marg Fitzgerald (Dennis) and Eileen Gibbs (Andy).
Born in Comox, Mom grew up near Merville and attended Tsolum School, where she met her future husband. They were married on April 12, 1952 and made their home in and around Courtenay until 1963, when they moved to Lake Cowichan. Here they spent almost 37 years before moving back to Courtenay in 2000.
After Dad passed in 2004, Mom spent the rest of her life in care facilities, first in Courtenay, then in Ladysmith. Mom struggled with Dementia during her last few years, but she always seemed happy to see us and content with her situation.
According to Mom's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes interred next to Dad's in St. Andrews Cemetery in Courtenay. There will be no service at this time.
We wish to thank the medical personnel as well as care and support workers at Casa Loma Retirement Village, La Rosa Gardens Independent Living, and Oyster Harbour Seniors Community for looking after Mom so well.
