In loving memory ~
Game over. Larry has gone to the nineteenth hole.
He leaves his children: Greg (Joan), Mark, Paul (Lea), Philip (Francine), Barbara (Ross), Joel (Debbie) and Adam; thirteen grandchildren, ever increasing number of great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Larry also leaves his extended family: Rob and Eileen Taylor (daughters Jamie and Stephannie), Richard and Gayle Hunt (daughters Erin and Laura).
Larry was born in Victoria, the youngest of four, and raised in Lake Cowichan where he attended school, took violin lessons (completing Grade 5 Toronto Conservatory of Music), played basketball, and was involved with Scouts. Larry went on to spend most of his working life in the valley with various forest industries.
Along with raising a family with his first wife, he was very active in the community coaching and refereeing basketball, umpiring baseball, calling church bingo and teaching first aid. Since retirement, in Victoria, he spent his time volunteering with Scouts Canada and Red Cross. He was a long- time member of Lions Club both in Lake Cowichan and Victoria (held international office 1993-94). Leisure time was spent reading, doing the daily crossword and wordsearch as well as golfing, finally breaking par in 2003.
He and his late wife, Evelyn Hunt, were a dynamic duo, giving years of dedicated service to Scouting and teaching first aid and health courses at Camosun College and around the community.
Always the gentleman, family and friends will miss his generosity, compassion, humour, friendliness, intelligent conversation, and love of music.
The family thanks his neighbours for all their help and the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassionate care during his many admissions over the past few years.
