Hawkes, H. Walter. Has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2003. Born in Vancouver, BC on June 22, 1924. Predeceased by his mother, father and sister Edna. Lovingly remembered by his family, wife of 55 years Hilda; children David, Heather (Eric), Wendy (the late Dave Wood), Karen and Rob (Susan) grandchildren Kevin, Christine (Rich), Trevor, Jenn, Cassi and Steven; great grandchildren Kash, Clark and brother Arthur (Ruth). Dad served in
the Navy at the end of WW11 and considered it an honour to defend his country. Dad worked in the forest industry for 36 years as a faller and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow workers (mates). The family would like to thank Dorothy and all the staff at Spinnaker Manor for all the love and compassion given to Dad in his final days. We would also like to thank the women at the Seniors Association and Cowichan Lake Baptist Church for all the hugs and encouragement Dad received from you, he was very grateful for your love. Walter was a wonderful husband, father,grandfather and friend.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Cowichan Lake Baptist Church, 8259 Beaver Lake Road, Lake Cowichan, BC. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial remembrances in Walter's name may be made to the charity of ones' choice.
