It is with deep sadness that the family of Georgina (Dordie) Hollett announce her passing on April 14th, 2020 at the age of 85. Georgina will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children and grandchildren Crystal: Becky and Jeff, Genevra and Dave and Katy; Timothy and Faye: Angella and Josh, Natasha and Jag, Justin and Sarah; Greg and Carol: Ryan and Nikki, Nicole and Cody, Nathan and Erin; Lance and Catherine: Jonathan and Sarah, Benjamin and Rachel and Rachel, her 22 great grandchildren, her half siblings Rick and Sheri, her brother in law Don and her sister in law Laverne. She is predeceased by her husband Rex, her mother Ethel, her father Ray, her brother Don, her daughter in law Michelle and her son in law Bill.
Georgina was born in Nanaimo, as a teenager she could be seen delivering newspapers while riding her beloved horse Smokey. It was there she met and married her husband Rex of 57 years. In 1956 they moved to Chemainus to establish B & H Tire Ltd. They put down roots and remained in Chemainus to raise their 4 children. In her early years she was actively involved in the lives of her children and neighbours. Once her children were grown she immersed herself in supporting her husband in his political involvements as councillor and mayor. Two of her enjoyments were joining in the Seniors Centre musical productions and serving as a Welcome Wagon host with her husband Rex. Her biggest involvement was with Calvary Baptist Church where she became a member at 27 years old and continued attending all her life. Some of the ministries she was part of were Sunday school teacher, youth leader, countless committees, World Day of Prayer, Daily Vacation Bible School, summer camp leader and Louisa Mission Group.
Georgina's home had a big welcome mat. Her door was always open with any excuse for a gathering. Her home was the hub for her family. She had a gift for hospitality and her generosity and love touched the lives of many people. She spent the last 3 ½ years living a full, rich life at the Chemainus Health Care Centre. We want to thank all of you who loved and visited mom and extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff for the care she received. It comforts us to know that she is now free from the limitations of this world and in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus. We will announce Georgina's Celebration of Life at a later date.
