AKA: "Big Guy", "Rubber Daddy", and "Uncle Turkey". With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, George Rowbottom.
George was a fun-loving and deeply caring Dad, Papa, Great Papa, Uncle, Brother and well-loved Friend to many. He is survived by his children Debra (Glen), Michele (Brian), Mark and Blake. Grandchildren Jessica (Justin), Chelsie, Trista (Joel), Jay (Tamra), Brayden (Kandice), Evan (Jewel), and Megan. Great-grandchildren Weston, Jaxon and Jessie. Nieces and nephews Arlene, Spike, Michael and Melanie. Brothers Tom and Doug (Sandra) and sister-in-law Edith. Special friend Val and a great number of people that counted George among their favorite buddies.
George, with late wife Wilma and family moved from Victoria to Lake Cowichan in 1964, where George worked as a tire-man at Darling Tire, Crown Zellerbach, Gordon River logging camp and B&H Tire until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, reading, dancing and sharing fun times with friends and family. He was a long-time member of the Legion where he was a champion crib, darts and pool player. George loved watching hockey, playing shuffleboard, and in earlier times playing softball, golfing, baseball and bowling. Dad kept us laughing in life and we treasure those countless memories! Now, we are greatly moved by his loss and hope to meet again.
Our family would like to thank those that sent cards, flowers and offered their moral support. Thanks also to the Lake Cowichan First Responders, ambulance staff and Doctor P. Kerswell.
At Dad's request there will be no service, however, there will be a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
