Freda passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2006 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Freda was born in Duncan Hospital, raised and educated in Lake Cowichan. In May of 1950 she married the love of her life Gerald Blunt and together they raised their family of four children in Youbou.
Following Gerry’s retirement from Youbou Sawmill and Freda’s retirement from School District 66 where she had worked as a custodian at the high school and Palsson Elementary School for many years, they moved to Gabriola Island. After eight years they moved to Parksville, where they enjoyed their new home and garden. Mom’s caring and nurturing ways will always be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. Freda was predeceased by her parents Fred (1976) and Noella (1990) Wavell, sister Hazel (1995) and beloved husband Gerry in 2005. Freda is survived by her three daughters and one son: Diane, Lorraine (Jeff), Ken (Kathy) and June (Kevin); her five grandchildren Nicole, Warren and Brent and Jana (Dan) and Ali; her two great grandsons Michael and Andrew. Also survived are sisters Yvonne and her two daughters, two nephews, and cousins in Ontario and England.
There will be a Celebration of Freda’s life on Saturday, December 30th, at 11 am at First Memorial Funeral Services, 375 Brae Road Duncan.
