It is with great sadness that we announce that passing of Florence (Mom) at the age of 95. Mom was born and raised in Parkside, Saskatchewan, moving to Lake Cowichan to work as a lumber stenciller at the Honeymoon Bay Mill.
Upon meeting and marrying our father, she began her career as a homemaker. Supporting her husband, she spent a summer on an adventure up North, gold panning. There were also many fun times spent at the family cabin, on the beach at Gabriola Island.
She was a devoted member of the United Church Ladies Group, and a long time member of the Lake Cowichan Hospital Auxiliary.
Over the years she has crocheted many blankets and sewn many baby quilts, that are still cherished to this day.
Mom is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters Barbara (Peter), Debbie and son Larry. She was a special Nana to Kenton (Cheryl), Kristy (Mike), Josh (Louise), Ryan (Andrea), Dustin (Alison), Michael (Amanda), Reece (Jillisa) along with 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Herb in 1990, brothers Gordon and Marvin, sisters Irene and Mildred, survived by sister Shirley.
She was a long time resident of Lake Cowichan and one of the original Neva Rd. families.
Thank you to Dr. Szabo, the many "special" people from home care and the wonderful Drs. and nurses at C.D.H. for your care and compassion.
In her own words to all, "Have a good, safe and peaceful night."
As per her wishes, there will be no service.
