November 7, 1927 – June 2, 2009
It is with deepest sorrow that our family said a sudden farewell to our Dad, Grampa, Great Grampa and Brother. Edward Hauck left us at the age of 81 with daughter Ruth Hale by his side. Ed was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Betty. Ed leaves behind 4 children: Lorna (Jim), Cathy, Eddie (Tyra), Ruth (Bruce), 10 grandchildren and many amazing great grandchildren and his sisters: Rose Dennis and Trudy Paetsch.
Ed was born in Saskatchewan in 1927, he moved to Lake Cowichan in 1947. There he met and married Betty Jane Adank in 1951 and were married for 49 years. Ed became quite the entrepreneur, buying Ed’s Fix-it Shop in 1966 thus becoming Mr. Fix-it of all things: appliances, plumbing, furnaces, septic tanks, you name it Ed fixed it. Soon he added tackle to his shop. Being a busy man Ed decided to start another company, Ed’s Roofing. And as if he wasn’t busy enough, Ed and wife Betty built and ran The South Shore Motel in Lake Cowichan where they expanded their large circle of friends even more. Of course, we all remember the great meals and laughter we had around the big dinner table don’t we? But as busy as Dad was he always planned his hunting and fishing trips with family and friends.
Our family wishes to thank all of Dad’s family and friends for making his life memories wonderful for us to remember. At Dad’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers our family asks that you take time out of your busy lives and spend special moments with all your loved ones. You will miss them when they are gone.

Dad, what a strong man you were in our young eyes,
As we grew big you worked non-stop so we could survive,
You never grew tired but that was no surprise,
The lessons you taught us in work and play,
Has carried us all into the present day,
Now it’s time for you to rest,
Take Mom’s hand watch the four of us do our best.
