October 21, 1949 - May 6, 2022
Christian Alpine Niebergall (Chris or Butch), passed away suddenly on May 6, 2022 at his home in Vanderhoof, BC. Born October 21, 1949, Chris was the son of Chris and May Niebergall, long time residents of Lake Cowichan, BC. Raised on an acreage just east of Lake Cowichan, Chris graduated from Lake Cowichan High School in 1966. He took over the family homestead and lived there for many years until he moved to the interior in 2006.
The family lived in Hixon, BC for a time, then settled in Vanderhoof.
Before leaving the Island, he worked with his father, Chris Niebergall in the Cedar Shake business for years and was an extremely talented wood working artist. He married his wife, Ellen Caine in (1991) at the Niebergall homestead.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Chris and May Niebergall, half brother John Boyd and sister, Barbara Newton.
Chris is survived by his wife Ellen, son Christian and sister Karen Graves (Ed), stepsons Justin, Darcy and Albert Caine plus many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and many, many cousins.
Chris will be sadly missed by a large extended family and his loss will be felt throughout the family and friends. His laughter was hard to forget and could make all of us "chuckle".
His skills as a wood worker were forever growing and his pieces became works of art.
