Bertha "Bertie" Ida Lillian Egan nee. Sturgess, was born in Brandon Manitoba to Clarence and Olive Sturgess on August 31, 1937.
Sadly, she passed away at Cerwydden Care, during the early morning hours of October 9, 2022. A few short weeks after turning 85. Bertie moved to Vancouver Island as a young woman to pursue her passion of Nursing. Where she met her husband Dr. TG Egan and together they made a home in Lake Cowichan BC.
Her love for life and the love she shared always made everyone feel welcome in her presence. She often had an open door policy for people who needed refuge and a safe place to stay. Bertie's warmth could be felt through the generations and extended to people of her community. Her quirky sense of humor could lighten even the darkest of days.
She could often be seen, being followed by her beloved dachshunds Buddy and Cleo. She was heavily involved with Kaatz, Lakeside players for many years. Managing the stage for various beloved classics. Her favourite one being Till we meet again
Bertie is survived by her children Debbie (George), John, Sue, Mary. As well as her grandchildren Amie, Kimberly (Steven), Matthew, Ayden, Daryl, Jett and her great grandchildren Cruiz, Nova, Anastasia and Jackson.
She will be greatly missed.
