Alexander Whyte

Passed away peacefully Jan.10/06 with the family by his side. Predeceased by his wife Babs in 1975, his sisters Nelly; Ella, and Vina. He is survived by his children Lynda (Yoon), Steve (Tracy), Jane (Mark), Chris (Alvin) 9 grandchildren: Jack (Chris), Ashley, Tina (Dave) Rick, Aaron, Wes (Tobi), Matthew, Jesse, Chelsea, two great-grandchildren Sasha and Danielle, his siblings Thelma,Ed (Joy).

Dad served as a Naval Petty Officer for 5 years in the 2nd world war. He married in 1946, began a family in 1948 and moved to Lake Cowichan in 1950, where he worked for WFI in the mill in Honeymoon Bay as a machinist until he retired in 1982. He and close friends founded the Lake Cowichan Water Ski Club. During this time he built his house on his waterfront in Honeymoon Bay where he and Mom had an annual family reunion filled with music, love and laughter. He and Rex Weaver created the band called the Rhythm Aces. They were well known and appreciated and travelled all over the Cowichan Valley and the Gulf Islands singing and playing at various events.

He lived at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion in Victoria for the last year of his life. The family is very grateful for the superb care he received from the wonderful staff who were professional, compassionate, and full of life and laughter. It was a home away from home and Dad was happy and comfortable there. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, at 3:30, Jan. 21/06 at First Memorial, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria,BC Reception following.
