A man from California has once again turned to the Gazette to help him find an old friend.

A few years ago, David Casas, of Salinas, California saw Darryl Alsbrook’s photo in the paper. Alsbrook had been playing at a music event around Lake Cowichan. The two were friends in the 1960s and had lost touch so Casas asked the paper to help track him down.

“We were able to talk, as I reached his daughter who gave me his phone number,” Casas recalled. “I never made it up to B.C., as I planned, and since, have lost his phone number. If there is any way you could help me once again, I would be grateful.”

Casas and his wife are quite the travellers. They’re headed to Europe for November but hope to make it out this way in spring or early summer 2020.

“My wife and I have talked about this trip for years, and now that we are in our mid 70s, we had better get with it,” he said.

“I would really like to see my old friend. It has been almost 55 years, but old memories get fresh as we get old.”

Youbou musician Alsbrook is a well known entertainer and music teacher so we are sure somebody can put us in touch with him so we can connect him with his old pal David.
