Two men have been arrested after RCMP were called to a break enter and theft in progress at Duncan’s Canadian Tire.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 4:03 a.m., North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP got a call from the store manager who said he was watching live footage of one man inside the store.

“The quick and diligent response of the officers resulted in locating and arresting two males in the process of stealing numerous items from the store including multiple boxes of Christmas lights, ladders, and other various items,” RCMP reported in a news release. RCMP praised both the timely response of officers and the security technology at the store for successfully arresting the suspects and getting back the stolen items.

In all, police recovered merchandise worth about $2,300.

Jeffrey Frost, 34, and Gerald Acorn, 43, both of Duncan, were arrested at the scene. Both face charges of break and enter and theft.

Police also seized a Dodge Ram they believe was going to be used by the suspects to haul away the stolen goods.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is reminding all local business to be vigilant in securing property and to notify police in a timely manner of any criminal activity to ensure RCMP can adequately investigate and/or prevent further incidents.

“North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP continues to work with local business to solve and reduce property crime,” the press release said.
