A section of Shawnigan Lake Road was closed on Saturday afternoon due to downed powerlines.
According to DriveBC’s Vancouver Island Twitter account (@DriveBC_VI), the road was closed at the intersection of Sooke Lake Road, four kilometres north of the Malahat Summit, due to downed hydro lines.
Traffic was detoured via Shawnigan-Mill Bay Road for the duration of the closure.
As of 2:30 p.m., an assessment was still in progress, and an update was expected at 4 p.m.
