The fundraising campaign for Cowichan Hospice House is nearing completion but it’s not done yet. More needs to be raised, and Peninsula Co-op wants to help.

The Co-op wants to match all donations up to $50,000 up until Aug. 30. That’ll be a $100,000 infusion if the Co-op can get community members to donate.

“Peninsula Co-op is committed to supporting the communities where we do business and causes that matter to our member-owners,” said Peninsula Co-op spokesperson Lindsay Gaudette. “The new Cowichan Hospice House will bring comfort and care to so many people and we are honoured to be a part of bringing this wonderful place to the community.”

Donations can be made online at cowichanhospicehouse.ca, by phone at 250-701-4242, or by mail to Cowichan Hospice at 3122 Gibbins Rd., Duncan, B.C., V9L 1G2.

The Hospice House project has been in the works for some time and an official sod turning event was held on July 18. Construction on the facility, which will offer expert, compassionate care to people with advancing illness who can no longer be supported at home, is expected to be complete in the fall of 2020.
